Models with a heart rate monitor allow you to continuously track your heartbeats per minute. This is useful if you want to train in a certain heart rate zone or compare your heart rate or pace with your past performances.

All of this vital data can be stored and wirelessly uploaded to Garmin Connect for further analysis. The unique touch bezel also makes using the watch easy to use (although it may take time to get used to) and the design makes the Garmin comfortable to wear during and while you’re not training.

The FR 405 is also compatible with a foot pod so you can track your speed, distances and running cadence. The watch also features a rechargeable battery that provides up to 8 hours while in training mode and up to 2 weeks in standby mode.

The Garmin Forerunner 405 is available in either black or green colors and with or without a heart rate monitor with prices starting at $199.99 for the latter and $229.95 for the former.

What Other People Say About the Garmin Forerunner 405
Great watch to replace your coach I’ve been training with the Garmin 405 for a year now and love it. Given the mixed reviews here, I was apprehensive about getting it, but it really is a great training device.” By David Okeefe

Great watch – I received a refurbished watch, and it works great, after you. Get use to it. Just make sure if you go run it has at least 30% of battery life. The bezel doesn’t respond when wet, and I like the Velcro wristband better, which comes with it! All in all its a great watch, it doesn’t come charged, but you can charge it half an hour and run!
I bought the Nike + watch b4 and returned after a week! Garmin is the way to go!”
